Science and technology advance exponentially. Here you will find a small sample of the latest.
Ortho Remedy Practitioners have the knowledge and experience to help patients decide on specific components appropriate for each individual. We are trained and certified by the manufacturers of these components to install, adjust, program and maintain them. Notice that most new technology addresses control systems for the knee, both prosthetic and orthotic.
Normal knee function is the most challenging and complicated issue for those who have weakness or trans-femoral amputations. The normal knee offers us powered stability at almost any angle, controlled motion dampening and then free swing motion with split second timing. This is what allows humans to propel themselves symmetrically in a controlled catch and fall at variable speeds or cadences, up and down inclines and stairs with security and confidence. Obviously, ankle and hip function are insignificant when compared to the knee. For this reason, many engineers and manufacturers have approached this subject and now offer a variety of new prosthetic and orthotic knee control systems. It is interesting to note how many different ways the same challenge can be approached.
We didn’t reach perfection yet, but we are getting closer. The purpose of this section is to showcase what is new and exciting in the prosthetic and orthotic market place. Recommendations can only be made after performing careful assessment of each individual. We can also offer information on just about any P & O product or service not included here.
